Caturday Inspiration: Creative Cat Coffee Art
At the time I’m writing this, it’s 4:15 on Saturday morning. It’s completely dark, and the only light I can see is the faint moonlight shining in through the window, my computer screen, and the vanilla scented candle burning close by. As the space heater under my desk keeps my feet toasty while I wait for the coffee to finish brewing, I only have two thoughts going through my head. The first one is that I can’t wait to get that coffee in my body, and the second one is that today is Caturday. Yay!
I decided to take those two thoughts and combine them into this one article, which is all about cute cat coffee art. I learned about Caturday from my dear friend Peg Fitzpatrick, and now I think about it every Saturday. I’m not even a cat person, yet I’m still hypnotized by all the cat pictures and videos that people share every weekend. Peg, this is for you!
For your inspiration today, I hope you enjoy these little lattes with feline designs on top. The one with the little paws is just so cute. A creative mind knows no limits, and if you’d like to try this yourself, click over to Latte Art Tutorial: The Cat. The ironic thing for me is that I would have to drink a cup of coffee to kickstart my brain in order to be able to make one of these coffee designs.

Mouserugs: Fancy Mouse Carpets To Replace Boring Mouse Pads
These little tiny carpets for your computer mouse are just as cute as can be. After all, it’s important to keep your mouse comfy and cozy so it performs well for you all day long, right? They are called Mouserugs, and they resemble fancy oriental rugs that we sometimes see in people’s homes.
These aren’t just mouse pads that look like rugs either. Each one is designed as an exact replica of a full-size oriental rug, which means each one is created with millions of colored nylon microfibers woven together. If the original rug has a flaw, this one has a flaw also. It’s a really neat process.
So if you’d like to change the decor on your desk from geek-chic to upscale-fancy, maybe one of these Mouserugs would be perfect for you. If you are going to do that though, you might want to ditch that can of beer and pour a glass of red wine instead. Also, I suggest you toss out that lame ballpoint pen and replace it with a Montblanc, and clean up all those sticky notes everywhere too. Nah, the more I think about it, I don’t think this is for me. If you like them though, you can pick one up for about $19 at Firebox or Mouserug.

Kinema Pendant Luminaire by Stuart Fingerhut
This extraordinary lamp called Kinema Pendant Luminaire is a creation of American designer Stuart Fingerhut. It’s uniquness is in its ability to give the user control of the light’s character to match the mood or the environment. Each of the pendant’s rings can be individually flipped to create dramatic light and shadow effects, as a single object or in multiples. Relatively simple idea but thanks to excellent executed design the lamp looks amazing.

Intricate Paper Cut Drawings by Bovey Lee
Pittsburgh-based artist Bovey Lee utilizes her background in Chinese paper cutting to produce these beautiful and amazingly detailed two-dimensional works of precision on Chinese rice paper.
Bovey Lee has been painting, drawing and practicing calligraphy since the age of ten. Shortly after graduation, she came to the U.S to obtain her masters of fine arts degree in painting and drawing in 1995. At that time, graphics software and the internet were budding as potential creative media and outlets for artists, and she obtained a second MFA degree in digital arts. After practicing digital arts for years, she began to miss creating with her hands. In 2005, Lee created her first cut paper work.
“My creative process is three-fold – hand drawing, digital rendering, and hand cutting,” Bovey Lee explains. “Typically, I develop drawings before making a digital template on the computer. After completing the template, I print it out and use it as a positioning and visual guide. The template is largely photographic and I spend a lot of time translating continuous tones into patterns of solid and void. The final step is to spend lots of hours, hand cutting the image.”
“I define what I do as drawing with a knife. when I cut paper, it is a visceral reaction and natural response to my roots and affection for precision, detail, and subtlety,” she says.

40 Brilliant and Advanced jQuery Effects To Use In Your Websites
Just a while ago, Flash was one of the primary technologies used by web designers to add interactivity to a website. But today, there’s an upward trend seen in the web development world to use alternative technologies to Flash, such as jQuery, Ajax and others. Though Flash is still a very powerful and useful tool several of the effects that web designers are accustomed to creating in Flash, can be just as easily implemented using jQuery.
The jQuery library provides several techniques for adding animation to a web page. These include simple, standard animations that are frequently used, and the ability to craft sophisticated custom effects. With jQuery, the programmers can keep their code organized, concise and simple which is the main objective of the library, “write less, do more”.

Ring out the old blog, ring in the new, ring-a-ding ding
Moviewings just came through the door in a brand-new outfit! Many thanks to Cece for the awesome blog design.
Just so we never completely forget the old look, here's a screenshot from an earlier version:

I'll miss you, teal and orange.
One other big change is in the works... as I review movies now, I will also be including my ratings. They will look like this:

(My range goes from zero to five wings, but I'm hoping never to have to use the zero.)
The wrapper may look different but the content will be more of the same, all things movie-related, with an emphasis on the classics.
Thanks everyone for reading and commenting; knowing I'm not just talking to myself here is helping to keep me going. Let me know what you think of the new look!
