Drawing the human figure is a skill that most artists attempt to master during their careers.
But Gesine Marwedel has taken that idea one stage further in putting together her unique 'body' of work - by transforming live models into human canvases.
The German speech therapist, 24, studied Rehabilitation Science at university where she learnt how to help sick children through creative therapies such as art and music.

Optical Illusion Tattoos

I don’t know about you guys, but I love top ten lists. When Vurdlak asked me if i could do one, I was really excited and a little surprised to see that there are only two top-tens on the site already. Well, rest assured that if you like posts like this, I’ll be happy to contribute plenty of them to the site -in fact, if you have any ideas for lists you’d like to see, feel free to leave your ideas in the comments here and if Vurdlak and I both like them, you just might see them in an upcoming post!
As for this first top ten list, I thought tattoos would make a great topic -after all, you have to really love an illusion to get one tattooed on you. This first tattoo is my personal favorite because it’s such a classic illusion subject -multiple meaning one. These work really well as arm  tattoos because you never know if someone will view it while your arm is raised or not, making it the ideal location for such a piece. This specific design was done by David Page. On the left, you have a queen, but when you flip her upside down, you have a king.
Next, the skull illusion tattoo involves one of my favorite types of illusions. What’s so great about skull illusions?  Let’s face it, they’re just so cool! It’s also a great idea for a tattoo since skulls are one of the most classic tattoo designs, but this interpretation brings the concept from cliche to chic.

I know what you’re thinking, that’s a nicely drawn tiger. Only…Well, just check out the pics, this is one of those “a photo is worth a thousand words” post. Also check the video at the bottom to get an idea of how it came to be.

The man behind this incredible body-painting artwork is Craig Tracy, an American artist, from New Orleans. Considered a trendsetter in the art of body-painting, Tracy is the first man to open an art gallery dedicated exclusively to the fine art of body-painting.

Entitled “The Last South China Tiger” this particular project is part of Save China’s Tigers‘ efforts to protect the remaining striped felines in China.

Bodypainting Festival

The world bodypainting festival in Austria is earth's biggest art show in the bodypaiting theme.  Since its inception in 1998, visitors have flocked to the event to admire the wild works of artists from over 40 nations worldwide.  Tens of thousands of visitors attended the 2011 event in Pörtschach along Lake Wörthersee near the state capital Klagenfurt.
Usually, the artist paints a completely naked human body, though the body is often covered with a very short bikini or a G-string.  Among other things, a great bodypainting work is measured by how skillfully the artist hides the private parts of the subject.
The 2001 World Bodypainting Festival began on June 27 and finished on July 3.
