2 Sleep in a work of art! The Au Vieux Panier Hotel
Happy Tuesday! Check out this amazing hotel in Marseille, France. Each room has its own artist. The artists, graphic designers, and painters from different locations and environments, were invited to design each room in the house in a short lasting style, in making each project something close to their style.Each, in its own way, succeeded in creating an amazing, distinct, and audacious atmosphere.

Paint Disturbed by Sound
German photographer Martin Klimas photographs sound using paint. He starts by putting different colored paint on top of some translucent material, underneath which is a speaker. When he cranks up the volume, the carefully selected mixtures of paint explode from the surface shooting into the air, intermixing to creating beautiful patterns. Klimas photographs these motion and each photo becomes an analogue representation of the music.
Martin Klimas has captured portrait of many different songs —from Miles Davis to Kraftwerk. He spent six months and about 1,000 shots to get the required results and also spent 18.5 gallons of paint and two blown speakers.
Klimas rose to prominence in the art world four years ago for a series of photos that captured porcelain figurines just as they shattered. In addition to the obvious debt owed to abstract expressionism, Klimas says his major influence was Hans Jenny, the father of cymatics, the study of wave phenomena. The resulting images are Klimas’s attempt to answer the question “What does music look like?”

Stunning Bookcase Designs
Reading is fundamental — any educator will tell you so. And while the bookworms among us would stack hundreds of books on the floor if we had to in order to keep them around, it’s obviously a bit more civilized to keep them organized in a bookcase. Today’s roundup of stunning bookcase designs ranges from the uber-organized filing system of the USA Bookcase by Ron Arad to the hippie-chic hanging net comprising the Bookwave by Ilio. Smoke Art in Bottles by Jim Dingilian
Over the course of the past decade, American artist Jim Dingilian has developed a body of work in which he painstakingly renders ephemeral imagery by hand on found objects such as wooden desktops and aluminum soda cans, and particularly the impressive artwork he does inside discarded bottles.
Jim Dingilian collects empty glass bottles and smokes their interiors with candle soot. After laying a coat of soot on the lining of the bottles, he goes through a process of delicate scraping to depict meticulous landscapes.
“The miniature scenes I depict are of locations on the edge of suburbia which seem mysterious or even slightly menacing despite their commonplace nature”, Jim Dingilian says. “The bottles add to the implied narratives of transgression. When found by the sides of roads or in the weeds near the edges of parking lots, empty liquor bottles are artifacts of consumption, delight, or dread. As art objects, they become hourglasses of sorts, their drained interiors now inhabited by dim memories.”

Caturday Inspiration: Creative Cat Coffee Art
At the time I’m writing this, it’s 4:15 on Saturday morning. It’s completely dark, and the only light I can see is the faint moonlight shining in through the window, my computer screen, and the vanilla scented candle burning close by. As the space heater under my desk keeps my feet toasty while I wait for the coffee to finish brewing, I only have two thoughts going through my head. The first one is that I can’t wait to get that coffee in my body, and the second one is that today is Caturday. Yay!
I decided to take those two thoughts and combine them into this one article, which is all about cute cat coffee art. I learned about Caturday from my dear friend Peg Fitzpatrick, and now I think about it every Saturday. I’m not even a cat person, yet I’m still hypnotized by all the cat pictures and videos that people share every weekend. Peg, this is for you!
For your inspiration today, I hope you enjoy these little lattes with feline designs on top. The one with the little paws is just so cute.
