Todd Daggett Spiked Tomahawk

This spiked tomahawk was made to resemble a mid to late 18th century piece. It has a cutting edge of 2 3/4 inches. The head including the spike is 8 1/2 inches wide. The forged head is secured to the split ash handle with wooden wedges. The length of the handle is 20 1/2 inches. This spiked tomahawk has been my personal hawk for nearly fifteen years. It has served me well providing wood for fires, field dressing deer and it even snagged a couple of salmon from a stream while I was on a survival outing in Alaska.

18th Century Styled Backwoods Belt Knife by Todd Daggett

I’m always very critical of my own work, but I was very pleased with the way this knife and sheath turned out.  The 4 1/16 blade was forged from spring steel and tempered very well. The blade bears a few of my touchmarks including a small flower on the back of the blade.  The tapered tang was driven into a piece of white tail deer antler that was formerly the handle of one of my hide scrapers.  The tang runs through a doomed pommel cap and is peened for strength.  A pewter bolster secures the base.

The vegetable tanned cowhide sheath was sewn with a hide thong and repaired with waxed flax thread and pewter rivets.

I know from experience that it handles very well accomplishing any task asked of it, from skinning coons to making pbj sandwiches (don’t tell my kids).

Late 18th Century Style Armpit Dagger by Todd Daggett

Designed to be carried under the left arm (for a right handed person) this ivory handled dagger will get the job done. The handle design is loosely on an original civilian pictured on page 21 of James Forman’s “The Scottish Dirk.” The blade length is 3 3/8 inches and has an overall length of 7 inches. The gradual taper to the tang runs through the handle and is peened over a decorative pommel cap made of sterling silver. The bolster is also made of sterling silver. The blade was forged from 1095, has four of my touchmarks and is the only knife I’ve ever made where my initials are to be sheathed on the back of the blade leaving the cross on the front. The aged vegetable tanned cowhide sheath with adjustable shoulder straps was hand stitched with waxed flax thread.

Spiked Tomahawk by Todd Daggett

This spiked tomahawk was made to resemble a mid to late 18th century piece.  The forged head has a cutting edge that is 2 1/16 inches wide.  The head is 7 1/16 inches long and is securely wedged to the split ash handle with three ash wedges.  The handle is 20 3/4  inches long and has a braintanned leather thong at its end.  This would make a wonderful addition to anyone’s outfit.
