Upper Susquehanna Rifle by Nate McKenzie

A very close copy of an original marked "J.W.". The original has been in the same family since 1828. I can not find who J.W. is but I think he must have apprenticed to Leonard Reedy considering some of the architecture and decoration on the gun.

Stock wood and brass furniture are from Dave Keck at Knob Mountain Muzzleloading. The 42in. 50cal swamped barrel is from John Getz and the lock is a modified Chambers Late Ketland. It has a tapered ramrod. It has a hand scraped finish stained with ferric nitrate mixed with rubbing alcohol. Both wood and metal have a slightly aged patina.
