Pillgramage of the Indian Community

Saturday May 5th, the Indian community had a there annual pilgrimage to Marian valley in honor of Our Lady of Good health. The Mass was celebrated by Fr Pancras Jordan O.P. ( A Dominican? I didn't even notice he was a Dominican, I just found out by reading the booklet, hmm hard to tell who's who with out their uniform)
It was nice to see the Catholic indians, the media pushes the Hindu side of the country too much. India the church in India is very ancient, apparently St Thomas came there to peach the Gospels.
As soon as mass ended the Indian priest had to rush off to a wedding, so Fr Prior had to lead the procession to the shrine of Our Lady of good health. Br Luke and I assisted Father with his Cope, holy water stoop and Biretta.
At the shrine we prayed a few litany's and Father gave a special blessing for all the pilgrims.
Father Prior, Is a priest with great love for our lady.Once everyone had a nice lunch to replenish lost energy from the procession, we had benediction of the blessed sacrament to end the day as is the norm for first Saturday devotions.

As favorite quote of mine from one of the usual pilgrims is that "I come to here to recharge my batteries every month" Quite true, I recommend a pilgrimage to Marian Valley to anyone who needs to recharge his spiritual "Batteries"

CIEL Oxford: Magnificat at Solemn Tridentine Vespers

Wow I am amazed. Even thought I know a lot about the tridentine vespers, I have never been to them. All major church should have solemn vespers every Sunday, were all the clergy can pray together, hec it's even recommended by the holy see. I especially love the music.

Adore 2007 Perth!

The post you have all been waiting for. The adore it's self. Now just to warn you the whole adore was in that big tent right there.
Well since I am a liturgy Nut, I can only show you photos of the masses. So if you want to see the action songs and talks of Fr bing , photos I'm sorry that I disappoint you. Here is Fr John with the well know Br Sebastian.

The gospel is proclaimed.
Fr John having a little, shortness problem, decided to leave the ambo for the homily fearing that it might fall due to him having to stand on a box. This is acceptable even for my high standard, hey look at least he isn't running up and down the church like a mad man!

As you can see they were 3 other concelebrants with Fr John. Here Fr John is incensing the altar. This is the only thing I really do hate, a priest incensing the altar by himself. It is an imemorial custom to have atleast the thurifer walk with the priest while he is incensing the altar! In a concelebrated mass you would have two con celebrants flank the priest, it would look awesome, but I guess some priests are a bit too proud with their priesthood. The Summit of the adore, is the holy mass. Even if all the talks would be poorly prepared, delivered, all the action songs go horribly wrong and even the tent falling down, the adore would still be a success if the mass was perfect. After all the point of an adore is not to dance around, meet other young people and hear Fr Bing, but it is there so the youth of Australia experience Jesus truly present in the Eucharist.

Fear not there are still more photos coming.

On site Prep for Adore

Finally When I arrive, I had come with all the liturgical equipment. Br Superior's first obedience was to set up the chapel. My immediate superior was my good friend Br Martin. After about an hour, a lot of shifting and a panic session, we go the job done. We thought that this was great, fitting for the mass. Even this would make me happy at my school masses, but no we have to use a stupid table, not even covered with an altar cloth. After I had retired that night, I woke the next day to find that Br superior (also a liturgist) rearranged Br Martins and my fruit. I can admit that I was beaten by one more versed in ingenuity and sanctuary beautification then I. This new set up, I wonderful. I felt a spiritual high when I served here.
Having to help out with the liturgy, gave me a few unexpected joys. This is the fattest thurible i have ever seen! It's great, the extra space, allows for more coal, incense and smoke! It is a bit to small and lack the center ring, but apart from that It's awesome. I would love to have one like this!
Here is Br Superior. I really love having a superior, it makes life so much easier. They give you the will of God and you just go do it. I would love to apologies publicly for being a bit stubborn and domineering when it came to the liturgy, but the brother bore my vices with great patience.
Here is what the brother I called the Vicar General. You can guess that he was second in charge and helped me out a lot with clarifications. Everyone Please pray for Br Gabriel.

Last but not least is Br Simon. He is the most resourceful and holy musician I have seen.
Please Pray for him my faithful readers, hopefully he will be a priest one day. We joked the he is so short the deacon will need to pick him up so he can incense the altar!.

Have patience, photos from the actual adore will come soon.

Quick Update

I just got back from staying with the OATH brothers (again). I met a person that I first met in Perth, his name was Peter (to the left). He had an unruly look, beard (didn't look tame like a monastic beard) and fuzzy hair. When I was leaving Perth, he decided to enter the OATH. When I stayed with the brothers, I saw him again. WOW the grace of God has transformed him. He was bald, no facial hair, well dressed and in a cassock! After spending a few days with him now , I see how God can mold people into what is most useful for his mission.

Now a he told me that he had found my website some time ago, praise God!. When he went to the adore he met me, once he returned home his mother said to him " I found this website, made by a boy from Brisbane, You would like it" He replied ," O, I met the guy at the adore"
We really did hit it off, we discussed the Carthusians a lot and declared people to be athemas!
This showed me, how small the world is! So everyone please pray for Br Peter from Perth.

P.S. He says he is well fed and has not eaten pasta for a while!
